Premier Farnell’s environmental design challenge - Live Edge, Electronic Design for the Global Environment.

This is a truly global competition open to anyone wherever they are based in the world. Our local companies will drive and support the challenge with EDE’s in their own region but ultimately, and uniquely the judging and selection will be at a global level so ……whether an applicant is in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Africa India, the Americas, China, Japan Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia or Hong Kong – this is one global competition, one message, one winner.

•Valuable support from experts to move your design toward production
•Intellectual property (IP) rights retained by you
•Innovative cash and support prize valued at $100,000

Live Edge—Electronic Design for the Global Environment


Live edge is sponsored by our parent company Premier Farnell, and its subsidiaries.
It is the first international competition of its kind to offer the support of expert legal, design and marketing consultants as part of its prize. The objective is to drive the winning design from concept towards production.
This innovative support package includes the use of an electronics design consultancy to develop the design toward prototype/production stage, legal assistance with Intellectual Property (IP) registration, patents and contracts, and professional public relations and marketing resources. All IP rights are retained by the winner, who will be invited to serve on next year’s live edge judging panel, with industry leaders and technical experts from around the world.
Along with the support package, a $50,000 cash prize will be awarded, for a total value of $100,000. Five other designs are also eligible for live edge Honorable Mentions and $5,000 cash prizes.
